Moochin’ About is proud and honoured to present a new fully re-mastered collection of film scores by the multi-instrumentalist, composer and author David Amram, rightfully hailed as a Renaissance man of American Music.
Amram plays more than 35 instruments and played a significant role in introducing the French horn to jazz more than sixty years ago while a member in the bands of many of the 1950s jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Charles Mingus and Oscar Pettiford. He also developed friendships while jamming or recording with many other jazz legends such as Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Charlie Parker, Betty Carter, Stan Getz, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan, Nina Simone, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito d’Rivera, Candido, Ray Mantilla, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Thad Jones, Sonny Rollins, and Wynton Marsalis, among others. Meanwhile, Amram also conducted 75 of the world’s great symphony orchestras, composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works, 2 operas, 23 Broadway scores, and 20 film scores including iconic films such as, ‘SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS’ (Warren Beatty/Natalie Wood)’, ‘THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (Frank Sinatra/Lawrence Harvey)’, ‘THE YOUNG SAVAGES’ (Burt Lancaster/Shelly Winters)’, ‘THE ARRANGEMENT’ (Kirk Douglas/ Faye Dunaway/ Deborah Kerr)’ and ‘PULL MY DAISY’ (feat the voice of Jack Kerouac)’, which are all featured on this collection in their entirety, as well as the release for the first time ever of 2015’s –‘ISN’T IT DELICIOUS’. This release also features excerpts from Amrams first ever documentary ‘ECHO OF AN ERA’ featuring the great Cecil Taylor recorded on piano for the first time. 2 of David Amrams broadway scores, ‘ON THE WATERFRONT’ & ‘AFTER THE FALL’ also appear on this collection…
All of these scores have been re-mastered to the highest quality ever and the 60 page perfect bound booklet has been written by the man himself…Mr.David Amram….
